Police/CPS Two Way Interface

STL Technologies' 'Two Way Interface' delivers major criminal justice efficiency savings by electronically linking its police custody and case file management software with the CPS. This important phase in the move to fully electronic case files and 'paperless' communication has resulted in:

  • Reduced costs, for example in printing and copying
  • Reduced case file preparation and updates
  • Greater efficiency for Police and CPS

STL's police case and custody management software has prepared and electronically sent thousands of case files to the CPS since 2008. The introduction of the 'Two Way Interface' in November 2011 has provided further benefits:

  • Allows more effective exchange of Defendant, Witness and Victim information between the CPS and Police
  • Automatically updates Police files with CPS file memos and other documentation
  • Supports pre-charge decision making by sending pre-charge decision requests to the CPS and updating the Police files with CPS action plans
  • Updates Police files and Custody management system with charging decisions
  • Saves time and increases accuracy by eliminating the need for manual data entry

STL's 'Two Way Interface', which is aligned to the CPS T3 (Transformation through Technology) program, improves communication between the Police and the CPS. The exchange of electronic case files delivers major cost and efficiency savings in case preparation for both parties. For example, by supporting streamlined processing, the amount of file work required in the event of an expected guilty plea is reduced.

STL Technologies has also developed police software to enable complex forms, such as the MGDD, to be sent electronically as part of an electronic case file.
